SAGA

So much for continuity. Well, I haven’t abandoned my Lasalle project, and indeed I was even able to squeeze in another great game of 15mm Lasalle with Marios last week at our club. Also the basing of my 28mm army continues. BUT – I just could’nt resist testing the new SAGA rules. And I have to say they are very, very promising.

After reading the rules (which are written in an entertaining style quite pleasant to read) I’ve played a little test-game in order to see the game mechanics in action. It worked quite well, gave credible results and overall appeared to be a system that is at the same time easy to learn and still hard to master. And since I like skirmish games so much that I’ve even started to write my own ruleset (which will now disappear in the cupboard – at least for some time) I’m glad that SAGA seems to fit the bill quite well.

I have 4 point warbands ready as well for the Vikings as for the Anglo-Danish factions, and I also have enough figures for a Norman warband the same size that only need to be rebased. I’ll do that and try to persuade the members of my club – and maybe I’ll even visit some international tournament events. I always wanted to visit the GB-headquarter, but WAB was never really my system. With SAGA – who knows, maybe I’ll go there for one of the announced gaming weekends.

You’ll probably read some more about this project on this blog. I hope you’ll keep tuned – have a nice week.
